OCTOBER PROGRAM: KIDS IN THE MINITOWN KITCHEN

 

The kids will be taking to the kitchen this October with Nanny Boppins every Tuesday morning, 10-11am in the upstairs Children’s Playground outside Big W. Join us for a free weekly session, no need to book. This month the children will be play-learning about food, fruit, vegetables, cooking dinners, international cuisine and baking treats. You may even be in for a treat with weekly taste testers from our retailers in Marketown who will be eager to share some of their delicacies with you all!

Baking Treats

Nanny Boppins loves baking and she is looking forward to teaching the children how to bake a special cake today in the Minitown Session. What ingredients do you like putting in your cake? Join us for a free session, 10-11am each Tuesday for an hour of fun activities, music, stories and craft. …and this month, it’s all about Food! Today’s theme will be based around using our imaginations and play based learning to have fun baking in the kitchen. We may even be crafting cupcakes at the craft table (on paper of course!)

What's For Dinner?

Nanny Boppins will be hosting an inspiring session on cooking today and incorporating all of the delicious international delicacies that we can find in our very own Marketown! Whether you enjoy Japanese Sushi, Nepalese delights, Vietnamese or simply hot potatoes, cold spaghetti or a good old hamburger, there is a flavour for everyone in the Minitown Kitchen today! The kids will have fun banging on the pots and pans and making music with all of Nanny Boppin’s favourite kitchen utensils. A free weekly activity, no bookings necessary and just a whole hour of fun, this week based around cooking delicious meals for dinner.

Yummy Yummy Fruit Salad!

Join Nanny Boppins this week as we explore lots of the yummy fruits we use to make a fruit salad. We’ll chat about the difference between salads and fruit salad and there may even be a few taste testers for the kids to try. Bring your friends along for an hour of educational entertainment hosted by Nanny Boppins, engaging with your little one through song, games, story and craft.

Join us for a very special NAIDOC WEEK Mini session with Uncle Perry! On Wednesday 5th July, Uncle Perry will be sharing his cultural heritage with our minis for a very special NAIDOC WEEK celebration. Enjoy a craft session afterwards. During the mini session Uncle Perry will; Play Traditional and contemporary solo didgeridoo sounds and rhythms. demonstrate how we make animal sounds, rhythms and beats by using Aboriginal language while playing didgeridoo Traditional name ( Yidaki ) Educate where the didgeridoo originates from, Arnhem Land. What the didgeridoo is used for, what it is made of. Introduce Traditional dance moves and encourage participation from children as they learn a dance called SPECIAL LAND Perry Fuller is from Kamilaroi Country (Coonabarabran). He is an accomplished didgeridoo (yidaki) player who has been playing for over 10 years. Perry is very active in NAIDOC festivities in Newcastle and surrounding schools. Mister Minit has officially launched: Quality shoe for town and country. We can re sole quality footwear like RM Williams to off the shelf standard, along with repair items like new heels, elastic sides, upper repairs and much more. Check out this pair of RM Williams craftsmans. It has our popular Goodyear synthetic sole fitted, which is also available in black, and being welted boots, stitched, along with long wearing heels. These are suitable for a lot of work and social environments being anti slip, oil resistant, long wearing and comfortable to stand in. Nothing is left to chance with this type of repair. When old soles are removed old stitching is removed from the welt, and the cavity between sole and upper is recorked. This provides support and insulation and helps retain original comfort. Afterwards the boots are treated to a super clean, which involves a leather wash, leather conditioner, deodoriser followed by a full polish and shine. This alone is valued at $50 but included with the service. For the rural customer, quality full leather soles are an option.
